These days 24 bits and 96 kHz are the definitive standards for digital/analog conversion. In this class of converter the differences in sound quality are often dramatic. Though this is to some extent attributable to vendor's proprietary algorithms, the quality of the converter's analog section figures even more prominently in the fidelity issue.
